Watch our Short Video on Vermont’s Early Care and Education System

On January 9, Building Bright Futures presented a virtual briefing on The State of Vermont’s Children: 2022 Year in Review. This short video clip from the briefing focuses on Vermont’s mixed-delivery early care and education system (including child care, preschool, and afterschool care).

In the video, we discuss the gap between demand for and availability of child care (especially infant care) and afterschool programs. We also touch on the recent increase in enrollment in Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) programs after a significant drop at the start of the pandemic.

For another UPK data point, visit the Vermont’s Early Childhood Data and Policy Center page on the licensed and desired capacity for UPK programs in Vermont as of December 31, 2022.
