Southeastern Vermont Regional Recap November 2018

This fall, the Southeast Vermont BBF Council has been focused on supporting learning opportunities and promotion of resources to our region. Three highlights are below.

The Windham Early Childhood Educators Coop (Starting Points Network) sought to bring the Bridges Out of Poverty training to the region. Along with the Green Street Promise Community, the BBF council provided financial and promotional support. Both experienced and new providers had new insights, especially with the revised curriculum focused on systems as well as individuals.

The Educators Coop organized the 11th annual Making Connections Conference; an opportunity for regional early childhood educators to come together for professional development and networking. Participants were able to choose 3 trainings from the 8 offerings, many of which counted toward advanced Specialized Child Care hours. Regional Help Me Grow funds were used to support this wonderful opportunity for providers to share expertise and experiences, to learn from experts in many fields, and to reignite passion for this important work.

The Positive Parenting Solutions class was also supported in collaboration with the Windham Southeast Supervisory Union, Winston Prouty, and regional Help Me Grow funds. This class is geared toward parents of young children with challenging behavior. As the title suggests, it promotes positive solutions for these behaviors and an opportunity for connection to other parents and community resources.

We are looking forward to several more trainings before the end of the year including a postpartum doula training focused on supporting parents in recovery.
