Northern Windsor & Orange Regional Recap, November 2019

The Northern Windsor and Orange County Regional Council has a focus on ensuring our children are given quality experiences and education to strengthen their social and emotional health. The region has employed a variety of tools to address this priority including parenting classes, supporting professionals in the field with trainings and coaching, providing community education, screening of films that bring this to light, as well as so much more.

The council has been working with the statewide initiative Building Flourishing Communities to spread the word about Adverse Childhood Experiences andmthe impact these have on our communities, and working to empower the community to take action to help prevent and mitigate the effect ACES have. There have been multiple trainings scheduled and completed in the past few years. We have also continued to support the work of Early Multi Tiered Systems of Support (EMTSS). The region has also recently scheduled an ASQ:3 and ASQ:SE training to help identify children that may need some extra support developmentally. Members of the council also continue to be active in the Strengthening Families work group out of Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center. This group is looking for ways to promote the protective factors in the community.

In this region there were also two Universal PreK Forums held, which helped the region gain a better understanding of what is working and what could be improved for easier, more effective implementation.
