Fall is here, and Building Bright Futures’ Regional Councils have been busy convening and building community across the state.

Central Vermont Candidate Forum

On October 4, our Central Vermont Regional Council hosted an early childhood candidate forum for Senate and House seats across Washington County. The candidates answered questions on topics we hear about often: housing, flood recovery, mental health, and child care access.

Thank you to our partners at Family Center of Washington County, Green Mountain United Way, Capstone Community Action, Let’s Grow Kids, Good Beginnings of Central VT, and everyone who made the event a success.

Addison County Early Childhood Summit

On October 25, our Addison County Regional Council hosted a regional summit around the theme of “Working Together for High-Quality Equitable Access Supports for Early Learners.” Vermont’s Member of Congress Representative Becca Balint gave opening remarks on Vermont as a national leader in early childhood care and education.

Council members then visited high-quality home- and center-based early learning programs around Addison County. The visits concluded with an afternoon community forum and table discussions highlighting special education supports, social-emotional development, and the importance of play!
