Lamoille Recap January 2019

New conversations and collaborations look promising in the Lamoille Valley as the Council and other community partners have been collaborating on safe sleep initiatives, workforce training efforts and a new partnership with Rise VT.

The Council remains committed to supporting the Lamoille Family Center and the efforts of Children’s Integrated Services as the early childhood system of support remains an area of remarkable cooperation and collaboration in the region.

The Lamoille Council continues to grapple with how to support increasing child care capacity in the Region as there is currently no capacity for infants. To suggest that the impact on the workforce is significant is an understatement. With years of full employment, it is difficult to grow an economy if those who wish to work and have families must choose between them.

The Lamoille Council is pleased to see and to support increased funding for CCFAP as described in the Governor’s budget address, more focus on supporting the Parent Child Centers, and increased momentum for Family and Medical Leave.
