Northern Windsor & Orange Regional Council Recap – May 2018
The Northern Windsor and Orange County Building Bright Futures Regional Council in the last two months has spent some time understanding the status of legislation, the likelihood for legislation to pass, and ways to advocate effectively for legislation. The council also learned more about Early Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and the way it is working in some parts of the region. The council agreed that this is a model that we’d like in the region and agreed to use some funding to help support interested providers in the region to attend the trainings being held in the state. In addition to Early Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, the council looked at other opportunities to support training in the region for both parents and providers.
The Council also had the opportunity to view the film “Resilience” and discuss how to spread this information to the community, other initiatives happening around toxic stress and Adverse Childhood Experiences, and the need for prevention. Council members committed to bringing the film to staff meetings and other events they felt appropriate as well as to continuing the conversation on how to coordinate with other organizations already engaged in this work.
The Northern Windsor and Orange County Regional Council has also decided to look at ways to help with workforce recruitment and retention at a regional level while promoting the need for the state to continue their discussion and problem solving around this challenge. The Council is holding a job fair June 19 from 6:00 – 7:30 at CCV Upper Valley to promote available jobs but also have some of our partners present to discuss ways in which to enter the field, supports that exist, and answer questions about specific training.
