The Vision of the Early Childhood Wellness Committee is to ensure a comprehensive, coordinated system of quality improvement opportunities focused on Health, Nutrition and Physical Activity are developed, promoted and made available to all childcare programs. These opportunities are driven by current research informed best practice approaches and seek to meet the needs of our locally diverse populations in order to provide the best care and education to children and families in Vermont. Our Purpose is to build a community of practice that:

  • Identifies and builds on assets, and prioritizes needs for health, nutrition and physical education
  • Advocates for resources and improvements to the system, including policy development
  • Aligns initiatives into a coordinated system including licensing standards, STARS and professional development opportunities, CACFP, Help Me Grow etc.
  • Fosters collegiality, mentoring and builds a community of learning partners
  • Facilitates communication and collaboration among colleagues, and
  • Promotes a culture that values ongoing healthy development
