The mission of the Building Bright Futures (BBF) Professional Preparation and Development (PPD) Committee is to develop, coordinate, and promote a comprehensive system of quality learning opportunities for current and prospective early childhood and afterschool professionals. One of the BBF statewide committees, the PPD Committee works to equip the early childhood workforce across sectors in the early childhood system with the common knowledge and skills needed to support children’s optimal learning and development and family stability.
The committee helps to lead and develop the system by ensuring appropriate representation of voices across the early childhood and afterschool spectrum, including voices representing K-3, Children’s Integrated Services, Early Childhood Special Education, Afterschool direct service, and others. The Professional Preparation and Development Committee meets monthly for two hours, with an annual full-day planning retreat. There are 15-18 identified representative members of PPD, though all meetings remain open to anyone who wishes to participate. Meetings are held monthly by Zoom.
The PPD Committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. via Zoom.
