The Orleans and Northern Essex Early Childhood Regional Council brings together community members committed to young children and families. Regional Councils are guided by Vermont’s Early Childhood Action Plan, and they identify annual priority actions based on community needs and gaps. The Regional Councils also advise Vermont’s Early Childhood State Advisory Council on opportunities to strengthen both local and statewide systems of care, health, and education. Membership is open to anyone who is invested in the well-being of children and families.
2024–2026 Regional Priorities
1. Access to basic needs: Identify gaps and invite creative solutions to help families access programs and supports that meet their basic needs (food, housing, diapers, health care, transportation, etc.).
2. Quality and capacity of early childhood education & services (including child care, pre-K, special education, mental health services, etc.): Respond to system gaps to improve access to high-quality learning and support systems that meet family needs. Promote and strengthen regional workforce development strategies by supporting recruitment, apprenticeship, training, retention, and professional development.
