Children in Residential Care

For some children, community-based supports may not be adequate to effectively address the clinical mental health needs of the child and family. In these instances, the family and support team may consider out-of-home treatment such as residential care for behavioral, emotional, or mental health conditions.

The chart below shows the number of children by age in residential treatment over time for behavioral, emotional, or mental health conditions.
