Since Dana Anderson left her position as BBF Regional Coordinator for the Rutland and Addison regions to take a job at Middlebury College, members of the Rutland council leadership have been working with BBF staff to hire a new coordinator. We hope to have a new coordinator in place by the end of the year. Meanwhile, the council continues to focus on their annual priorities of developing a Pre-K to Kindergarten transition committee and working toward a regional transition summit modeled on work in the Addison region. They are also beginning to plan for a “Just Play No Way” community family fun event, building off the success of last year’s event, highlighting healthy brain development in young children through play. In November, the council participated in a “conversation with intent” led by Sharron Harrington of Vermont Birth to Five and Ric Reardon of Castleton University. The goal of the conversation was to explore the future of early childhood as a recognized profession in Vermont.
