Orleans & Northern Essex Regional Council Recap – March 2018
Regional Council Meetings: At our February 5, 2018 Building Bright Futures Regional Council meeting, we held a public forum to gather feedback on the Act 166 recommendations and proposed legislative changes. We had 15 individuals join us to share feedback. In addition, we collected comments at the February 6th NEKPA Starting Points Network meeting. There were 21 early childhood professionals in attendance representing both home providers and licensed centers that helped inform the State BBF report to the legislature. Concerns were raised at both meetings about these proposed legislative changes, which helped inform the State BBF report to the legislature provided in early March 2018.
On March 5th, we invited parents to our council meeting to share personal stories about child care and to help us brain storm next steps in addressing this issue in our region. It was great to have parent voice and perspective informing this critical and ongoing discussion. Child care capacity continues to be a challenge and a priority for our region.
Upcoming Events: Our Annual Dabble Day is scheduled for April 7, 2018 from 9:00 am- 12 Noon at the Coventry School. Dabble Day is a fun-filled, resource-rich day for young children birth to eight years old and their families. It is sponsored by Building Bright Futures in collaboration with community partners.
